Gregory Isaacs is dead at 59. Gregory Isaacs died Monday October 25, 2010 at home in London after battling liver cancer; Isaacs’ death was confirmed by representatives today. It is reported that Issacs’ liver cancer had spread in recent months. Isaacs is survived by a wife and children.
The Jamaican reggae legend first recorded in 1968 on “Another Heartache”. By 1973, Isaacs had a hit with “My Only Lover”. In the next five years, Isaacs had a wealth of favorites crossing from ballads to uptempos including “All I Have Is Love”, “Lonely Soldier”, and “Black a Kill Black”. But in 1974, he did it again with the number one track “Love Is Overdue”.
In 1978, Gregory Isaacs signed with Virgin Records and delivered the albums “Cool Ruler“ and “Soon Forward”. Years later, he jumped to Charisma Records and then Island Records. With Island, he delivered “Night Nurse“. In 2008 he delivered “Brand New Me“, his final studio album.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
